Un monastère au coeur du centre ville millavois

Monastère Sainte Claire dit Les Clarisses :
La toute première implantation de "Filles de Sainte Claire" à Millau date de 1291. Le Soeurs vivent de leur travail (confection de médailles entre autre), les dons offerts spontanément permettent d'entretenir le monastère. En 1875, cinq religieuses de Perpignan établirent le monastère des clarisses, à l’appel de l’évêque de Rodez. Elles vécurent provisoirement au Faubourg du Pont, non loin de l’ancien couvent (celui de 1641, détruit par la Révolution), en attendant que le monastère actuel fût construit. Elles y aménagèrent en 1882. Très vite la vie pousse à essaimer, et Millau est à l’origine du monastère de Mazamet en 1887, du monastère de Toulouse en 1928, et de la fraternité Claire Joie de Montauban en 1977. Actuellement, 23 sœurs vivent là.
Une vieille tradition, encore d’actualité aujourd’hui, voulait que l’on offre des œufs à Sainte Claire, afin que ses prières offrent du beau temps lors d’un mariage ou tout autre événement important.
Cette année, l’ordre des Clarisses fête les 800 ans de leur création par Sainte Claire d’Assises.

La cache ne vous amène pas directement à l’entrée du Monastère (voir Waypoint 1), elle se trouve dans le mur extérieur de l’enceinte de l’immense parc. Attention, soyez discret, beaucoup de passage dans le coin. Pas de Crayon.

Monastery Holy Claire says The Nuns of the order of St Clare:
The very first presence of " Girls of Saint Claire " to Millau dates 1291. Sisters live on their work (preparation of medals among others), the donations offered spontaneously allow to maintain the monastery. In 1875, five nuns of Perpignan established the monastery of the nuns of the order of St Clare, to the appeal of the bishop of Rodez. They lived temporarily in the Suburb of the Bridge, not far from the ancient convent (that of the 1641, destroyed by the Revolution), until the current monastery is built. They fitted out in 1882 there.? Very fast the life urges to spread out, and Millau is at the origin of the monastery of Mazamet in 1887, of the monastery of Toulouse in 1928, and the brotherhood Claire Joie de Montauban in 1977. At present, 23 sisters live there.
An old tradition, still of current events today, wanted that we offer eggs to Saint Claire, so that her prayers offer of the good weather during a marriage or quite other important event.
This year, the order of the Nuns of the order of St Clare celebrates 800 years of their creation by Saint Claire of Assizes.
