First a little bit of education regarding counting systems. The denary system, base 10 is the accepted norm around the globe now, but it was not always the case. The Romans had their system of I, V, X, L, C, D etc and towards the end of the 20th century a tribe in New Guinea was found that only had words in their language for our equivalent of 1 to 24; they could use fingers, toes, hands and feet to get to 24 after that they used a word which meant ‘a lot’ (a bit like our ‘infinity’). Having such a simple system was quite adequate for a society where numbers were used for bartering only but as mathematical and scientific advances were made in the middle ages, base 10 (because humans have 10 fingers and thumbs) became the accepted norm.
