Container Type: Lock & Lock
Code Location: Inside container
Access Info: This cache is located on USFS property in a fee area.
Winter Access: Depends on road conditions.

There was once a small settlement known as Idlewild at this site, complete with its own railroad siding, telegraph, and buildings. Idlewild was a popular stop for the Colorado Midland as it traveled from Colorado Springs through Eleven Mile Canyon (then called Granite Canyon). The wildflower excursions were legendary during its heyday but, like many railroad towns, it was abandoned along with the railroad.

Take County Road 96 from Lake George to the Idlewild Picnic Area. This cache is located in a USFS fee area and a day use pass costs $6. Pass the picnic area and look for the turnout across from the clearing. Stealth may be required during the summer as this cache is in view of the road.
