Rumor has it that if you rub the budda’s belly at this shrine you will become pregnant – man or woman. If you don’t want to risk it, then just make the grab for the cache, which is cache two of three leading up to The Hard Luck Castle. Cache is a 1.5 inch copper tube.
As the story goes, this trusty trailer served two generations of builders before its final fatal breakdown on this very spot. This trailer had hauled numerous lodes of sand and gravel for the tons of cement needed to erect the Hard Luck Castle. It’s owner, much in debt and in a display of his crazy humor, turned the trailer into a shrine and sundial. Stop to pay respect or to get the time (standard time only), or maybe just wonder what personality was responsible for such an unusual addition to the desert landscape. A few more miles up the road to The Hard Luck Castle cache (GC3PQTV) will bring you face to face with that unusual, but very friendly, personality.
