Geocache Description:

The seventeenth in a series of caches I hope will bring attention to DC's wealth of "hidden" mural art.

Gaia's building-sized mural "Dusk of H Street" was commissioned by Smith Commons on whose wall the art adorns, and was begun and completed in May of 2012.

According to Vandalog, this piece is a rehashing of one of Gaia’s early oil paintings.

Gaia says:

“The interior of the chest is an Albert Bierstadt landscape painting of Yosemite referencing American manifest destiny and western expansion. The virgin terrain is contrasted with an old vacant building on H street which is a historically divested neighborhood currently undergoing a massive transition.”

As usual with these Hidden Mural hides, coords are approximate; once you see the mural you'll need to rely on your geosense more than your GPS -- remember to bring your favorite writing utensil and enjoy!

** Congrats to wetfit for his 384th FTF! **
