FRANÇAIS : Le village de La Palud sur Verdon (313 habitants – 935 m d'altitude) est implanté au pied de la Crête de Montdenier et du Mourre de Chanier (1930 m).
Ses environs immédiats gardent la trace de son passé agricole : pastoralisme, cultures en terrasses (restanques), exploitation forestière (charbonniers)... Dépendant au Xème siècle de la Seigneurie du village voisin de Châteauneuf, c'est autour de l'église Notre Dame de Palude que s'installe la population au cours du Moyen-Age. A l'ouest, le château datant de la fin du XVIème siècle a été depuis remanié et agrandi... La façade nord date du XVIIe siècle (fenêtre à meneaux). Elle a été intégrée dans un agrandissement au XVIIIe siècle. Le château actuel a trois étages. Il accueille actuellement la Maison des Gorges du Verdon, entièrement dédiée à la présentation et à la protection du milieu naturel environnant : musée, expositions, mises en scène originales, documentation, randonnées.
La géologie de la région est bien évidemment mise en avant, au regard des bouleversements qu'elle a traversés : d'abord occupée par la mer, elle s'est plissée lors de la formation des Alpes puis fût entaillée par le Verdon qui s'est glissé dans les failles...
L’église paroissiale Notre-Dame-de-Vauvert est reconstruite en 1868-1870. Sa nef comprend six travées ; elle est voûtée en plein cintre. Son clocher, en petit appareil régulier, orné de bandes lombardes, date du XIe siècle; il est inscrit au titre des Monuments historiques par arrêté du 29 novembre 1927 . La sacristie est installée dans l’ancienne chapelle seigneuriale (fin du xve siècle ou début du suivant), voûtée sous croisée d’ogives. Notre‑Dame‑de‑Vauvert ne ressemble pas aux édifices traditionnels de la région qui laissent le clocher dominer largement le bâtiment. Sans doute, peut-on imaginer que le prêtre d’alors a souhaité que l’Eglise réponde fièrement au Château qui domine le village.

The village of "LA PALUD SUR VERDON" (313 inhabitants – 935 m of altitude) is established at the bottom of the Peak of Montdenier and Mourre de Chanier (1930 m). Its immediate surroundings keep the trace of its agricultural past: pastoralism, terrace croppings (restanques), forestry holding (coalmen)… Depending at the 10th century on the Seigniory on the village close to Châteauneuf, it is around the church Our Dame de Palude that the population during the Middle Ages settles. In the west, the castle dating from the end of the 16th century since was altered and increased… The northern frontage dates from the 17th century (mullioned window). It was integrated in an enlarging into the 18th century. The current castle has three stages. It currently accommodates the House of the Gorges of the Verdon, entirely dedicated to the presentation and the protection of the surrounding natural environment: museum, exposures, productions original, documentation, excursions. The geology of the area is obviously put ahead, with the glance as of upheavals which it crossed: initially occupied by the sea, it was folded during the formation of the Alps then was notched by the Verdon which slipped into the faults… The parish church Our-Lady-of-Vauvert is rebuilt in 1868-1870. Its nave understands six spans; it is arched in semicircular arch. Its bell-tower, out of regular small apparatus, decorated Lombardic bands, dates from the 11th century; it is registered under the Historic buildings by decree of November 29th, 1927. The sacristy is installed in the old seigniorial vault (end of the 15th century or beginning of the following), arched under intersecting ribs. Our ‑ Lady ‑ of ‑ Vauvert does not resemble the traditional buildings of the area which let the bell-tower largely dominate the building. Undoubtedly, one can imagine that the priest of then wished that the Church answer proudly the Castle which dominates the village.
