Rockwood Park is enjoyed by hikers, walkers, joggers, skaters, swimmers, canoers, kayakers, golfers, bird-watchers, animal lovers, horseback riders, cross country skiers, berry pickers, dogs, geologist, and anyone that just enjoys the out doors.
Rockwood Park has a 10 fresh water lakes and over 26 km of trails.
The Skywalker Trail is a wilderness tail in the North East edge of the park off the Trans Canada Trail. There are two ways to approach this cache. From the North or from the South. The North approach has a very steep incline. From the South is longer and more gentle.
Pick up a trail map from the information center inside Rockwood Park. The Online PDF version has less detail.
I have seen pictures of people doing this hike in the winter, but have not attempted it myself. I would not recommend biking up but there were mountain bike tracks on the trail.
Once at the top enjoy the view of this end of the park. In the Fall with the trees changing colors this view is probably gorgeous.
The cache contains logbook, pencil, and started with eight polished pieces of chert or flint collected from Sea Side Beach in West Saint John then tumbled until a polished shire.
See the panoramic view taken in June 2012 when the cache was hidden. At the time this pano was taken, the Fundy shore was covered in fog but a short distance away Rockwood park is still basking in sunlight.
