Geocache Description:

Walk around the "Monkey Temple", the great Stupa at Swayambhunath.
Start at the head-entrance.
This is a holy place for both Hindu and Buddhist, and at the top is a beautiful view around. It cost 200 rupies for tourists, and the money is for maintenance the area. To get the cache, you don’t need to go up and pay. Walk many steps and turn to the right at the tree big Buddha statues and follow the path around.

Tree times I placed a traditional cache here, and every time it was Muggel by the monkey. There are eyes everywhere.

When I visit another holy place, I bought some prayer flags, and I was told, that I could write my name and others on the flag, and then it would give the blessing by the mantras on the flag, when moving by the wind. So therefore the cache log is not a paper, but flags, and you must bring a pencil and write your name and hopeful get some blessing. The colour of the flags symbolise the elements: Earth:yellow, Water:white, Fire:red, Air/tree:green and Space: blue. Write which colour of the flag you used, or you can send a picture of you at the place. If the flags are down, you could hang up another, that would bee very great!

On your way around the hill, there are many monkeys, and there is a Monkey Bath near the cache. The monkey can attack you and are aggressive, if you bring food. Near the baths also is a Wishing Pond with a Buddha in the middle. People throw coins to the bowel and wish Peace in the World. At this place also is the Office of Conservation for the area. You see much plastic at the hill. In generations, it was a habit just to through out the things, because it disappeared very fast. It was the Western which brought the plastic, but the culture didn’t change.

Bring your own pencil/Indian ink.

Mine venner "Bimala" make maintanance for the cache.

Small note on cache maintenance: Local friends responsible for maintenance have created the geocaching account "Bimala" so they can put the cache on their watch list.
