Geocache Description:

Nice easy stroll on the Wye Valley Walk, good parking and flat ground the whole way to the cache.
Mirco cache, please bring your own pen or pencil. It can be found just off the trail that runs between the two gates passing the churchyard.

St. Peter's is situated on the banks of the River Wye, just north of Monmouth. This attractive whitewashed building dates back to at least the 12th Century, though was probably a holy site before then.

The Book of Llandaff refers to the existence of a church, or monastery, on this site in about 735, when it was already described as an "old church" (henllan). Later charters refer to its fishing rights on the River Wye. At that time, it was dedicated to the Welsh saint Tydiwg, or Tadeocus. The Welsh name of the parish, Llandydiwg, and ultimately the name Dixton, derives from that of the saint.

This is my first hide, so I made it pretty easy, please let me know if the co-ordinates are accurate.

While you are here you might as well get "Floating on the Wye" too.

Happy hunting!

Congrats to The Catbrook Cachers for being FTF!
