Rota do Espinhal Multi-cache

O Espinhal, é uma das seis freguesias do Concelho de Penela. A existência do Espinhal, enquanto povoação, é já antiga, como testemunham vários documentos dos séculos XIV e XV.

Com um vasto património histórico, cultural e natural, esta vila, merece sem dúvida a sua visita. Esta cache, vai levá-lo por alguns locais importantes da vila e vai permitir-lhe conhecer alguns dos recantos mais bonitos desta povoação.

Casa do Castelo

É um solar de habitação nobre datado do século XVIII, que ainda preserva o seu portal antigo. Pertence à família Oliveira Guimarães.

Jardim de Gerações – Conselheiro António Luís Oliveira Guimarães

Um espaço de lazer intergeracional destinado primordialmente, a ser fruído pelos utentes do Jardim de Infância e do Lar e Centro de Dia do Espinhal, duas gerações diferentes que aqui se podem juntar conviver, aprender e trocar experiências.

Igreja Matriz

A sua origem remonta à segunda metade do séc. XV, e tem por patrono S. Sebastião.

Possui uma interessante fachada do século XIX, cuja torre remonta ao século XVIII, enquanto o seu interior nos remete para o século XVI.

Podemos salientar em termos artísticos e arquitectónicos os seguintes elementos: a pintura barroca sobre o arco triunfal, evocativa do Aparecimento de Cristo à Virgem; as três naves que compõem o corpo interior da igreja, separadas por arcadas de colunas jónicas; a Capela-mor de abóbada de meio-canhão, com retábulos de talha dourada de estilo barroco; as capelas colaterais, cobertas por cúpulas de quartelas, têm no interior retábulos de pedra em estilo renascentista coimbrão.

Capela de Santo António do Calvário

Capela sobranceira à Vila, com Via Sacra, situada num pequeno monte donde se desfruta uma admirável vista panorâmica da vila do Espinhal e povoações limítrofes. Esta capela data do século XVIII.

The Espinhal is one of six districts of the Penela Municipality. The existence of the Espinhal as village is old, as shown in various documents of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries.

With a vast historical, cultural and natural patrimony, this village certainly deserves your visit. The cache will take you through some important places of the village and will allow you to meet some of the most beautiful corners of Espinhal.

Casa do Castelo

It is a noble house dating from the eighteenth century, which still preserves its ancient gateway, belonging to the family Oliveira Guimarães.

Garden of Generations - Councillor António Luís Oliveira Guimarães

A recreational intergenerational garden, primarily intended to be enjoyed by users of the Kindergarten and the Day Care Center of Espinhal, here two different generations can coexist together, learn and exchange experiences.

Main Church

Its origin dates back to the second half of the fifteenth century and the patron is S. Sebastian.

It has an interesting facade of the nineteenth century, while the tower dates from the eighteenth century and the interior takes us back to the sixteenth century.

The main church most interesting features are: a baroque painting on the triumphal arch (evocative of the Appearance of Christ to the Virgin); the three altars (that compose the inner body of the church, separated by arcades and columns); the main chapel (has a half-barrel cupola, with golden engravings in baroque style), the side chapels (with domes and stone altarpieces in the renaissance style).

St. Anthony Chapel

The chapel overlooks the village from a small hill, where you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view. The path to the top of the hill, it’s supposed to be a reconstitution of the Via Dolorosa that took Crist to the cross. This chapel dates from the eighteenth century.

The initial coordinates will take you to the Junta de Freguesia do Espinhal (Community Council), where you can start your route. Check the additional points (waypoints) to be able to visit some of the most emblematic places of Espinhal and answer some questions.

Then just use your answers and do the math.

A - Number of lamps in front of the existing community council (only those on the sidewalk next to the building (do not count those on the other side of the road).

B - Number of flag stems in front of the building of the community council.
