O Vendedor de Passados é um livro de José Eduardo Agualusa.
O romance conta a história de um vendedor de ilusões. O personagem principal é Felix Ventura, um albino que tem a curiosa profissão de preparar e vender árvores genealógicas. Os seus clientes, prósperos empresários, políticos, generais, isto é, a burguesia angolana, têm o seu futuro assegurado mas, porém falta-lhes um passado bom. Até que um dia lhe aparece em casa um estrangeiro que precisa de uma nova identidade, uma identidade angolana.
A narrativa conta com uma fusão de narradores, não sendo possível, em alguns trechos, identificá-los, o que exige atenção por parte dos interlocutores.
José Eduardo Agualusa (Huambo, Angola; 13 de Dezembro de 1960) é um escritor angolano.
Estudou agronomia e silvicultura no Instituto Superior de Agronomia, em Lisboa. Colaborou com o jornal português Público desde a sua fundação; na revista de domingo desse diário (Pública) assinava uma crónica quinzenal. Atualmente, escreve crónicas mensalmente para a revista portuguesa LER e semanalmente para o jornal angolano A Capital. Realiza o programa A Hora das Cigarras, sobre música e poesia africana, difundido na RDP África.
É membro da União dos Escritores Angolanos.
Em 2006 lançou, juntamente com Conceição Lopes e Fatima Otero, a editora brasileira Língua Geral, dedicada exclusivamente a autores de língua portuguesa. A sua obra encontra-se traduzida em mais de vinte idiomas.

José Eduardo Agualusa (born December 13, 1960, in Huambo, Angola—then called Nova Lisboa, Overseas Province of Angola) is an Angolan journalist and writer. He studied agronomy and silviculture in Lisbon, Portugal. He currently spends most of his time in Portugal, Angola and Brazil, working as a writer and journalist. His books have been translated into twenty languages. He writes monthly for the Portuguese magazine LER and weekly for the Angolan newspaper A Capital. He hosts the radio program A Hora das Cigarras, about African music and poetry, on the channel RDP África. In 2006, he launched, with Conceição Lopes and Fatima Otero, the Brazilian publisher Língua Geral, dedicated exclusively to Portuguese-language authors.
