Two part multi-cache (first stage is virtual) placed in Trexler Memorial Park to memorialize a consummate adventurer and loved one.
Trexler Memorial Park could be said to be one of the most beautiful parks in all of Allentown. With its mature oaks, manicured lawns, and paved trails, Trexler park is well visited, and has become a popular place to honor loved ones with memorial benches and trees. A bronze statue of General Henry Trexler, on horse back, stands guard from the northern hilltop corner of the park, overlooking Cedar Creek. Many visitors come to walk the park loop path, which is close to a mile in length. Few, however, venture off the loop to see the beautiful trout in the deep pools of Cedar Creek. Heidi's first encounter with a trout was when she successfully caught one while fishing. More concerned for the trout than most fishermen, she never fished again. Later in life, Heidi became the consummate adventurer. She taught skiing at Jack Frost, Blue Mountain, Killington, and Jackson Hole, and during the summers, she guided rafting tours down the Lehigh, the Hudson, the Gauley, and the Snake. She was quoted, "there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad equipment." Alone, she was lost in an accident on the Bechler in Yellowstone. A trout was likely the only witness to her passing. Come find the cache, and see some trout. The final cache is just upstream from a deep, quiet pool, where trout can almost always be seen. Great place to bike, too (only on Tues, Thurs, and Sat). The final cache is located at N40*35.SHV5 W075*32.B5AD in which "L" is the number of "L's" in Heidi's memorial bench plaque, and so on. Latitude check sum is 31. Longitude check sum is 38.
