Il Cimitero americano si trova nei pressi di Firenze, in località Falciani, occupa una superficie di 28 ettari su un'area ceduta gratuitamente dal governo italiano agli Stati Uniti d'America per la sepoltura delle spoglie dei soldati americani caduti durante la campagna di liberazione d'Italia nel 1945.
Iniziato a costruire nel 1949, quando vi vengono seppellite le prime salme, viene completato nel 1959 e ufficialmente inaugurato nel 1961.
Le 4.402 salme sono individualmente contrassegnate da croci latine per i caduti di religione cristiana e da stelle di Davide per quelli di religione ebraica. Sulla sommità della distesa di croci bianche disposte sul pendio collinare sorge la monumentale costruzione del memoriale dedicato ai caduti di guerra le cui spoglie non sono mai state recuperate. Davanti al sacrario si eleva una stele alta 20 m rivestita di travertino alla cui sommità è posta una scultura in marmo raffigurante lo spirito della pace.
Orario di apertura: 9.00 – 17.00. La cache, comunque, è posta FUORI dal cimitero, vicino ad uno dei due ingressi.

The American Cemetery is located near Florence, in Falciani, occupies an area of 28 hectares and lies in an area ceded by the Italian government to the United States of America for burial of remains of American soldiers killed during thecampaign liberation of Italy in 1945.
Started building in 1949, when the first bodies are buried, is completed in 1959and officially inaugurated in 1961.
The 4,402 bodies are individually marked with crosses for the fallen of LatinChristianity and Stars of David for those of Jewish faith
On top of the expanse of white crosses arranged on a slope, stands themonumental construction of the memorial
dedicated to war dead whose remains were never recovered. In front of the shrinestands a high pillar 20 m coated with travertine at the top there is a marble sculpture depicting the spirit of peace.
Opening hours: 9.00 - 17.00. However, the cache is placed outside the cemetery, next to one of two inputs.
