Sidetracked - Sporto Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Leptoceratops: Hello!
I'm archiving your cache as it has been disabled for more than a one month and it is lost, completely damaged or inappropriate. Caches should be visited and maintained within 30 days after disabling.
Archiving a geocache is meant to be a permanent action. If a cache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance, it will not be unarchived.

If there are still leftovers from container I would appreciate if other players could collect them so that there is no trash in the nature.

Happy geocaching!

Geocache Description:

SideTracked Caches are intended to provide quick Cache-and-dashes at Train Stations. This is one of the series of over a thousand caches started in the UK and Ireland, eventually spread all over the globe.

There is no station anymore, the cache is micro capable to host a large geocoin or two. Check the NW corner of the wooden building. It is in the vertical middle, could be a little tough to remove, thinner fingers help. I will eventyally modify the container. There is an amazing Botanical Garden to visit on the other side of the tracks. Tracks? What tracks, eh? Sadly, there is no tracks anymore. The narrow gauge railway tracks were disassembled in 1979. School kids used to be trained for professional railway technicians here. The railway was built in 1946. It was also used to transport the fuel to a municipal power plant hence considered of a strategical importance and was not shown on maps. The railway was returned exclusively for children training purposes once another power plant was built in 1951. But then power plant engineers decided their steam pipes should be guided underground right below the tracks so the railway was completely disassembled in 1979. Prior to that like many school kids I was invited to learn operating a locomotive on summer breaks. But I gave up right away for the reason they did not offer even a symbolic salary and becoming a locomotive captain was certainly not in the list of my dreams. Other than Sporto station there were three more: Komjaunimo, Pionieriu and Pergales. No ticket counters at Sporto anymore. Present yourself a visit to a cheap brothel Lakstingala instead. Try their stale yet expensive beer. Or according to rumors rent a room at a hourly rate should you need one.
