L'église Saint-Martin, très ancienne, est en partie romane mais a été modifiée à la 2e époque ogivale. Un élément statuaire en pierre blanche peinte montre sainte Marguerite d'Antioche terrassant le dragon. Il date du xve siècle31. Saint Martin est le patron de la paroisse mais elle est également sous la protection de saint Gal, second patron. L'église a souvent été endommagée comme en 1793 où, suite au décret du 10 novembre de la même année relatif à l'abolition des cultes, les cloches sont fondues et transformées en canon (artillerie). Le clocher est donc démoli et n'est toujours pas reconstruit en 1817. C'est la commune qui décide, après délibérations du conseil municipal en 1817, de rebâtir le clocher. Elle contribue pour une large part à la remise en état de l'église. Le financement est complété par les dons volontaires faits par chaque propriétaire. En 1824, elle est toujours en très mauvais état et le curé Jaladon envoie une lettre à Monseigneur l'évêque de Clermont-Ferrand qui lui dit que « l'église a besoin de réparations urgentes, pour éviter un écroulement total. Une des deux chapelles étant tombées, elle doit être promptement relevée pour conserver l'édifice ».
