Meet fellow geocachers and learn all about the world of Geocaching from experienced geocachers on Thursday, April 19, beginning at 6:45 p.m., at the BP Energy Center, 900 E. Benson Blvd. (Click for map.)
Tonight's speaker is Lisa Echard. We welcome FlightRiskAK to the podium, where she will be delivering a fast-paced Geocache Placement presentation that is perfect for both new and old Geocachers.
Lisa has been caching since December 2009 and has accumulated 1,465 finds and hidden 68 caches in just over 2 years on the trail. She is a Sourdough member who is serving on your Board of Directors for GeocacheAlaska! Inc. So, come on down to the BP Energy Center on Thursday evening and pick up some great information on how to hide your next Geocache!
Some of the topics to be discussed at this EduVent include:
- Cache Site Selection
- Permits and Permissions
- Container Selection
- Camouflage
- Obtaining Accurate Coordinates
- Cache Hiding Tips
This event will be carried live over the internet via WebEx! Contact us immediately if you can host a remote site session. GeocacheAlaska members who cannot attend an event site can link in remotely. Contact us for instructions on how to do so.
Please post a "Will Attend" log on this event page to stay appraised of the final details. If we need to make any announcements about this event, all registered attendees will automatically receive an email copy of those announcements via the email you have registered with your Geocaching.com account. Adding a "Will Attend" log to this page will also assure enough hard copy handouts are printed for the event participants.
Please arrive on time so upfront administrative details can be handled and announcements made, allowing the course content to start precisely at 7:00 p.m. (or 1900hrs if you prefer). Also, please bring your favorite nonalcoholic beverage and a dessert to share with your fellow cachers.
There will be a free-will offering cache container at the event to help defray the costs of hosting these FUNdamentals events if you would like to make a donation. The GeAK Store will be available onsite immediately after the presentation. You may purchase items from our line of GxProxy gear as well as official GroundSpeak merchandise.
If you have requests for EduVent topics, have a topic that you would like to present to the Alaskan geocaching community, or would like to host future presentations like this one elsewhere in Alaska, please contact Education Committee Chair and GeAK WebMaster, SSO JOAT.
