O cais tem 82m de comprimento e 16,80m de largura e termina com uma rotunda com 20,66m de diâmetro.
A atração deste local tem motivado a realização dos mais diversos eventos, desde concertos musicais, festas culturais, feiras, eventos políticos e desportivos. É também um ponto central para apreciar as exibições piromusicais do Festival do Atlântico, que se realizam no mês de junho e o grandioso fogo-de-artifício que todos os anos comemora a passagem do ano, e que nos primeiros momentos de 2007, foi considerado pelo “Guinness World Records”, o maior espetáculo pirotécnico do mundo (oito minutos, 66.326 peças pirotécnicas, 17 toneladas, em 37 pontos diferentes na cidade).
Em frente, está o Porto do Funchal, que recebe cerca de 300 navios de cruzeiro por ano, com cerca de 500.000 passageiros em trânsito.
História
A intenção de construir um cais, tomou forma em 23 de Abril de 1843, numa iniciativa da Câmara Municipal do Funchal. No entanto, as obras foram mal sucedidas e antes de ser concluído, o mar destruiu o que já tinha sido construído, levando ao abandono da obra. Em 1889 iniciaram-se as obras do atual cais, feito em duas fases. A inauguração da versão atual do Cais do Funchal aconteceu a 28 de Maio de 1933.
Atenção: Esta é uma simples multi-cache que está localizada num sítio muito frequentado, recomenda-se a procura da cache à noite, com muita atenção e descrição. Não force a procura da cache quando não tiver condições para o fazer de forma discreta, o principal objetivo é a visita ao Cais. Por favor não publique fotos da cache e da sua localização.

History
The intention to build a pier, took shape on April 23, 1843, an initiative of the Municipality of Funchal. However, the works were unsuccessful and before it is completed, the sea destroyed what had been built, leading to abandonment of the work. In 1889 began the construction of the current pier, done in two phases. The inauguration of the current version of the Funchal Pier happened in May 28, 1933. The pier project was presented by the Captain Lima Canha, and the engineer José Bernardo de Andrade Lopes made a few changes. The first phase was commissioned and built by French engineers Combemale, Michelon and Maurie and final extension, as it is today, was conducted by the company Nederlandsche Maatschappij Voor Havenwerken.
