Skye is renowned for some awful weather. But it's actually no worse than many other parts of Scotland. When Skye wants you to share its secrets, it will let you...meanwhile be patient. The old road that runs around the coast of Loch Ainort to Loch Sligachan is much neglected these days, and in places it shows. You don't have to drive it to bag this cache, but you won't be disappointed if you do...just go slowly.
The cache location is stunning on a fine day: a beautiful loch on the one hand, and lofty summits all around, not one of which is a stroll in the park, but every one of which rewards you with amazing views and the most exhilarating walking.
But, if all you do is stop and admire – don't worry about the rain, it only goes skin deep and then it runs off! – then you'll want to stay awhile and admire one of the finest roadside views on Skye.
There is room to pull off the minor road and park, close by the junction with the A87. The cache is nearby.
