Easy to find Regular sized ammo can with expected log book, writing implements, and space for trade items hidden in an old foundation in Mercer County Park (Mercer Meadows) North West. Some bushwhacking required.
Nice little hike from the parking waypoint. Be careful of the usual seasonals-including tics, sticker bushes, poisonous plants,
Would be very much interested in logs hypothesizing the original purpose for this structure. Tom and I came to some ideas: rebar goes way back (Google), but how far back does threaded rebar go?; The fact that there is no evidence of a stone fireplace, suggests that this structure was not inhabited by people; one does not have to look to hard to see that there is a man-made berm on the side opposite the doors which would allow for some type of vehicle to back up. Maybe to drop off a load of grain?; with that notion-found a few pictures that might fit (see associated link); and finally, is there a way to tell how old this stonework is?
