O Monte de S. Gens faz parte da Serra de Bougado e fica situado na freguesia de São Tiago de Bougado no concelho da Trofa, distrito do Porto. Este Monte tem a particularidade de possuir rochas ftaníticas. Estas rochas são sedimentares, siliciosas, resultantes de precipitação química, tendo incorporada alguma matéria orgânica e possuem fósseis de pequenas dimensões. Estes ftanitos tiveram origem numa zona mais profunda de uma bacia marinha, onde a circulação de água seria praticamente inexistente tal como a presença de oxigénio, ou seja, formaram-se num ambiente de águas estagnadas. No Monte de S. Gens a rocha está muito deformada, encontrando-se dobrada e muito fina, apresentando uma coloração cinza clara. A visualização destas rochas é rara em Portugal e no Mundo não são muitos os locais onde são visíveis. Para obter a autorização para efetuar o log deve responder às seguintes questões: 1ª Qual é a área (m2) aproximada do aglomerado rochoso (plano em que o vê)? 2ª As camadas de sedimentos apresentam-se na generalidade na horizontal, vertical ou onduladas? 3ª Na zona com as camadas sedimentares mais grossas qual a espessura (cm) da mais grossa? [ENG] Mount St. Gens is part of the Sierra de Bougado and is situated in the parish of St. Tiago de Bougado of the municipality of Trofa Bougado district of Porto. This hill has the peculiarity of having ftaníticas rocks. These are sedimentary rocks, silica, resulting from chemical precipitation, and incorporated some organic matter and have small fossils. These ftanitos stemmed from a deeper zone of a sea basin where water circulation was virtually nonexistent as the presence of oxygen, ie, formed in an environment of stagnant water. At Mount St. Gens is very deformed the rock, being bent and very thin, with a light gray. The visualization of these rocks is rare in Portugal and worldwide there are not many places where they are visible. To obtain permission to make the log should answer the following questions: 1-What is the area (m2) approximate the cluster rocky? 2-The sediment layers are presented generally in horizontal, vertical or wavy? 3-In the area with the wider sedimentary layers which thickness (cm) of wider?
