The cache is a normal plastic box, hidden in a wooden log under mossy barks.
The place is a memorial / shrine of an ancient cemetery dating back to the 10th century. This region, the Bodrogköz must have been an important settlement for the pagan Magyar tribes. Archeologists excavated 73 graves and reconstructed the cemetery between 1986-90. A nice monument was erected onto the highest ranking and wealthiest man’s grave. The open-air memorial shows the exact location of each grave plus describes the content of each tomb.
In addition to the graves currently lots of carved wooden poles (kopjafa in Hungarian) are erected by Hungarians as to pay tribute to the ancestors.
The place slowly becomes a kind of pilgrimage destination.
Easy to find, the traffic is low, ideal stop during a bike tour.
