This cache is located in the heart of the Linville Gorge Wilderness area. That is the reason I choose to make it a virtual cache. The coordinates will take you to the center of the Linville River to the "House Rock" ... The easiest route to this cache is via the Spence Ridge Trail. While not a tough hike it is beautiful and will allow you a pleasant way to experience the area. During the spring and summer months this trail gets a lot of use ... so plan accordingly. To log this cache you will need to post a photo of yourself or your group on top of House Rock with your log. That's it ... very simple ... but if you've never been in the gorge ... give this cache a try ... you'll love it.
REMEMBER ... Post a photo of yourself (or selves) on the rock to claim your log. Satellite lock in this part of the gorge can be very difficult ... but you should not have any problem in identification of the location ... it's the large square boulder nearly dead center of the river ... at the end of the Spence Ridge Trail.
Logs must have the photo posted within 7 days of the log to remain.
Enjoy my favorite place on earth! Please remember this is a wilderness area and there are certain restrictions and permits required for certain activities during different times of year ... use this link to learn more about the gorge before your visit. To see additional photos of our trips to the gorge you can visit my website using the link above.
