******As of 11/24/2015, Idlewild has amassed 355 Favorite Points (272 active with gbm, FA20, and 13 inactive). The requirement to log this cache is currently 284 Favorite Points (217 with the three inactives) found in this park. Please confirm this number for yourself before claiming the cache, as the required numbers change as assigned Favorite Points change.******
*** Even though the cache is on "green" territory on the map, it appears to be owned by the nearby house/barn according to tax records. The cache is not very close to the house/barn in question. If you choose to attempt the cache, PLEASE approach to cache from the Idlewild Park parking area, follow trails until you can cross the creek. DO NOT PARK at the "barn" nearby. Please cross the creek at waypoint listed. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO GET CLOSE TO ANY HOUSES, the cache is in thick woods. Review the satellite image and plan your trip accordingly. As always, be respectful of the land you are on and practice CITO.***
Ahhh, Idlewild Park. Arguably Charlotte's best destination for caching, nestled snugly between Matthews and Mint Hill.
At publish of this cache, Idlewild is home to 23 caches, which have garnered 200 total "Favorite" points.
This is a challenge cache. To claim this cache, you must:
* Have found (or own) 80% of the available "Favorite Points" in Idlewild Park.
* Find and sign the log of this cache.
* List your total "Favorite Points" found (or owned) in the park in your log.
At publish, the requirement for total Favorite Points is 160 (80% of 200).
I have attached a handy-dandy "score card" to help you keep track of your Favorite Points found for this challenge.
I will accept any reasonable proof of your meeting the 80% requirement. The preferred method is a screenshot of the map on geocaching.com showing your found Idlewild Park caches with your name shown as logged in on the top right of the screen (a sample is below). Get the map shown like my sample below, press "PRINT SCREEN" on your keyboard, start up "Paint" or similar graphic program, paste in the screenshot, save it and attach it to your log.
I will also accept a listing of caches found in your log or any other reasonable method you choose, like a picture of your completed "score card" showing the total Favorite Points found.
NOTE: IF A CACHE IS DISABLED, the total of available "Favorite Points" for the park is lowered by the amount of favorite points that disabled cache has. For example, if the park has a total of 200 "Favorite Points", but a cache with 30 points is disabled, you would need to find a total of 80% of 170 points, or 136 points to qualify for this cache.
As an added bonus, this cache page will be home of the "IDLEWILD HALL OF FAME". In order to qualify for the Hall, you will need to find (or own) ALL ACTIVE caches in the park. Attachment of a screenshot as described above WITH ALL ICONS indicating FOUND (smiley), OWNED (star), or DISABLED (grey) must be visible. Please note that you are qualified for induction in the Idlewild Hall of Fame in your log or with a note to this cache.
If you find this cache first, then qualify for the Hall of Fame at a later date, just post a note to this cache, indicating that you are ready for induction.
Only the best cachers will qualify for the Idlewild Hall of Fame. Induction into the Hall will most likely be the most memorable event of your entire geocaching career.
