Minnesota Boy Finds 1000 5268!: Elm Creek
Minnesota Boy and I started caching at the same time when he asked me if I wanted to give it a try. We found our first cache, "Boom Island Park II," on May 27, 2010. We didn't document that find with a photo, but here's what he said in his log, "My brother and I found it with the use of the free app on my iphone. This is the first one we have tried and enjoyed the experience despite disturbing a homeless man." I remember that guy, he was sunning himself in a lawn chair while reading. It was a beautiful day for sitting in the sun. We have since each bought our own GPSr and cache together and apart.
We work together and have done a lot of our caching during our lunch break, although the number of caches we can reach during lunch is steadily decreasing since we have found most of them already. We have cached on weekends and have even had the good fortune to cache together in other states while on trips for work.
I couldn't ask for a better caching partner.
He found his 1000th cache on November 25, 2011 at "KBayNPapaBear's 1500 Finds Tribute Cache." We hadn't been paying attention and so didn't document that find either! Regardless, I was glad to be there when he hit the milestone. If you've met Minnesota Boy either on the trail or at an event, please leave a note for him in your log.
Update: On Jan. 28, 2012, MN Boy (and myself) were able to get nine icons while in Arizona. See my bookmark list.
Further update: Minnesota Boy reached his 5000th find on 8/22/2020 at GC5GG6V, "Rusty the Dragon."
The new container placed in April 2021 was designed by Minnesota Boy.
