THE FINAL CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED COORDINATES. This is a night cache. The listed coordinates will take you to Stage I where you will be searching for information that will lead you to Stage 2. Being a night cache, you will be looking for something that glows under a flashlight. Bring a good one that can cast a strong beam at least 100 feet.
As we were hiking this area enjoying the views for the first time on a cool but sunny winter day, we thought how great it would be on a warm summer night, or any night for that matter. A clear starry night will be especially nice. Be sure to take a moment at each stage to enjoy the surroundings. You will very likely hear or maybe even see wildlife under the light of the moon. We spotted deer and heard hooting owls and the howling of coyotes as we placed the cache. Please tell us what you see or hear.
You can stay on established trails much of the time. You will have an uphill bushwack to the final but you will be rewarded with the best view of your entire adventure and a nice downhill back to the parking lot. The final is well worth the effort. Our hike was just under 2 miles round trip. The cache can be accomplished any time of year. Deep snow would obviously raise the difficulty level however. You should be able to complete the cache in one to two hours depending on how much time you take to enjoy.
We have rated this cache a terrain of 4 but we do not want to discourage families from the adventure. The terrain is steep and uneven in places and can be a challenge in the dark. There is no need to put yourself in danger. If you are feeling uneasy you probably are not attempting the cache as intended.
The final is a bit of a twist from the other stages in that the container is at the actual coordinates indicated. The container is an ammo can packed with items that are fun and handy in the dark.
