Geocache Description:

From the Southern entrance to Tallman Mountain State Park. An easy hike with a view of the Hudson.

Since the first stage keeps going missing, I am trying to edit this to a regular cache. The final stage is: N 041.01.195 W 073.54.353 It is between the bike trail and the scenic trail along the river. It is just off the scenic river trail. There is sometimes a lot of traffic in this park on a good day so beware of muggles. It is off the ground and safe from snow. The Long Path runs through this park and if you choose to explore it, you will see some interesting berms and ponds. These berms were formed in 1923 when Standard Oil planned on making an oil tank "farm". The project was never completed because of strong public opposition. There are still many oil-seepage ditches with earthen berms. When the land was acquired by the park, the ditches became woodland ponds and the berms are trails. Thank goodness Mrs. Rockefeller complained about the oil companie's plans and her husband nixed the project. FTF gets a new set of TB dog tags. For any cachers that did Continental Drifter's archived Look What I Found GCJ2K4 (2004-2011), the area will look familiar. If you are clever, you can get 2 for one on the logs.
