Geocache Description:

This is a KFC (Kid Friendly Cache) and part of the PBS Dinosaur Train Geocaching Challenge.

Other caches in the series include:

Pteranadon:Late Cretaceous (85-75 million years ago)
Pronunciation: teh-RAN-oh-don
Meaning: Toothless wing
Animal Type: Pterosaur)
Dietary Type: Carnivore (fish)
Size: Wingspan - 25-33 foot (7.8-10 m) long Standing Height - 6 ft (1.8 m) tall at the hips
Weight: 55 pounds
Major Fossil Finds: Kansas, USA, North America and in England, Europe.

There is a laminated Pteranodon field guide card in the cache. Feel free to take a look but please leave this in the cache.

It is time to be teaching the young ones how to cache. I'm starting a series of KFC's to help families with young cachers catch the bug.

My definition of Kid Friendly Cache is:

  • Close to a playground
  • Less than a .2 mile hike
  • Kid Friendly Terrain
  • Kid Findable
  • Room for toys to trade

The cache is a medium sized lock-in-lock container. There is a lammy for the FTF and a Tiny Pteranodon figure and a first kid to find lammy for the first kid to find (kid means elementary school or younger). Please leave this prize in the cache for the first kid to come out and find the cache.

Coordinates are averaged from my phone GPS (actual GPS was out of batteries) so I will accept new coords if these are too far off. There was quite a bounce.
