Geocache Description:

February - Bears Turning Over in Their Dens Moon

In the Anishinaabe culture, the second moon of Creation is called the Bear Moon.

It is a time when they  honour the vision quest that started in the fall.  During this time, they  discover how to see beyond reality and to communicate through energy rather than sound.

It is an excellent time to go for a silent hike in  the wilderness.  In the dark, to be as one with nature and silently communicate with the creatures of the night.

Time: Saturday February 4, 2012   7:00 p.m.

Location: Camp Chimo, Markham (Posted Coordinates)

This is not your typical meet and greet event.

There is no pub or indoor facility at the posted location.  No washrooms.  Nearer the event, I will post coordinates for a nearby restaurant that cachers may chose to congregate at prior to this event.

The purpose of this event is to experience and enjoy winter night hiking.

This event is being held in Camp Chimo with the permission of the Town of Markham Parks and Recreation Department.

Markham Fire Department have issued a permit for an open air bonfire. BYOM&S - Bring Your Own Marshmallows and Skewer.  :)

We will hike approximately 5 km on trails that hug the contours of the Rouge River to Markham Road and back.

There will be a themed Wherigo published for the event.

This is a family and dog friendly event.

However, please be aware that this park is abundantly populated with coyotes who may present a threat to your dog.   It is recommended you keep your dog on leash at all times.
