Geocache Description:

A geocache/letterbox hybrid hidden on the perimeter of the abandoned St. Patrick's Cemetery in Hibernia's Wildcat Ridge Wildlife Area.

This Geocache/Letterbox is located just outside the cemetery, which is located at the coordinates provided. Since this is a geocache/letterbox hybrid, there is a separate letterbox stamp, ink pad, and pen inside the container, in a separate zip lock bag. Please do not remove this bag from the container. The nearest parking can be had off of Green Pond Rd., at N40 56.679 W074 29.583.

The cemetery is abandoned and overgrown with weeds and bushes, but it's still the final resting place for a couple hundred people. So please be respectful and do not tamper with any of the headstones/markers.

From the parking lot on Green Pond Road, the hike to the cemetery is about a mile long, round trip. It is a bit steep in some areas, and there is plenty of loose rock, so be careful. The cemetery can also be reached without any bushwhacking. In fact, it is best that you NOT do any bushwhacking here as there are still mine shafts in the area that are only partially filled in. They aren't all that easy to see under leaves and snow either. Be careful.

Here is a link to a map of the park and some trails. (visit link) By taking the wide rocky trail (marked in yellow here) that looks like it used to be an old access road, you will be able to access the cemetery by taking a left at a smaller unmarked trail.

Once you see the sign for the cemetery you should walk past the sign and look to the left. There you will see a large memorial stone for one Timothy Hart. Walk to the stone and put it to your right. Looking down to your left you will see some pipes lying on the ground and running ahead and slightly downhill. These once served as a fence around the cemetery but have long since fallen. Follow those pipes as they point the way to the hiding spot, which is only a few feet beyond where the pipes end. Please re-hide it better than you found it.

Feel free to explore the cemetery once you've found the cache, but again, please don't tamper with any of the tombstones.

WARNING: Do NOT rely on the coordinates to get you to the cache! The coordinates will get you to the cemetery entrance only. Follow the above directions, and read the hint, to get to the actual cache.
