Geocache Description:

You are looking for a magnetic nano near where Kenneth Oringer started two of his famous restaurants. BYOP.

Kenneth Oringer

Kenneth Oringer received degrees from Bryant College and The Culinary Institute of America. After school, Oringer went on to work at New York’s River Café, Providence’s Al Forno, and Boston’s Le Marquis de Lafayette.

From here, Oringer went on to open Terra in New York, was Chef de Cuisine at Silks in San Francisco, and was Chef and partner in Tosca in Hingham.

In 1997, Oringer opened Clio in the Eliot Hotel and shortly after, received the James Beard ‘Best Chef in the Northeast Award.’ In 2002, he opened the sashimi bar, Uni, and in 2005, he opened Toro in the South End.

This cache has brought you near to the Eliot Hotel in which Kenneth Oringer started two of his restaurants, Clio and Uni. The Eliot Hotel has a special connection for three generations of my family. In the 1950’s while at college, my dad would take my mom here on their “big dates” to enjoy the hotel’s fine dining. In the 1970’s while in college, I used to go to the hotel’s club to listen to the band, Heidi and the Secret Admirers. In the 1990’s I would bring my wife here for fine dining at Clio’s. And then in the 2000’s, my sons enjoyed sashimi at Uni whether with their friends or me.
