Le barrage est situé entre la Punta di Caldane ( 1724 mètres ) et la Punta Ventosa ( 1686 mètres ) en Haute-Corse.
La vallée de l'Alesani est sauvage, et son fond est inondé par la retenue du barrage, situé à la limite nord de la commune de CHIATRA.
Aucun franchissement de la rivière n'existe sur 10 kms en amont du barrage.
Le barrage d'Alesani a été construit de 1964 à 1969.
Circulant sur la D 71 en direction de la montagne, vous dépasserez le bourg de SANT'ANDRIA DI U COTONE et vous vous arrêterez au point GPS : N 42°18.428 - E 009°28.019
Là, vous serez émerveillé par une superbe vue sur le barrage et les petits villages dans la montagne.
Vous marcherez quelques mètres sur des rochers et vous trouverez ce que vous cherchez entre deux blocs de granit.
Vous serez à une altitude de 386 mètres.

The dam is located between the Punta di Caldane (1724 meters) and Punta Ventosa (1686 meters) in Corsica.
