Le Coiron, territoire singulier des volcans
Le plateau du Coiron forme un plateau basaltique, qui s'étend au Sud du Moyen-Vivarais. C'est une région géologique particulière de l'Ardèche, entre Privas, Villeneuve-de-Berg et Rochemaure (Au bord du Rhône).
Le Coiron était autrefois un immense massif volcanique en activité.
Les coulées de lave successives ont faconné ce territoire en replissant les vallées.
L’érosion a mis en relief le paysage si particulier du Coiron, dont la coulée supérieure de basalte est découpée à la facon d’une gigantesque feuille de chêne.
Par conséquent, afin de réclamer cette EarthCache vous devez vous rendre aux coordonnées et répondre aux questions suivantes:
1) Pendant combien des années le Coiron était un massif volcanique en acitivité ?
2) Comment on appele aussi un cratère d’explosion ?
3) Et parce que nous voudrons voir à quoi vous ressemblez, nous vous serions reconnaissant d'une photo de vous n'importe où près du panneau, bien que cette demande est totalement facultative.

The Coiron – a unique volcanic territory
The plateau of Coiron forms a basaltic plateau that extends south of the Middle Vivarais.
It is a particular geological region of Ardeche, between Privas, Villeneuve de Berg and Rochemaure (on the banks of the Rhone).
The Coiron was once a huge active volcanic area.
Successive lava flows have shaped this area by folding up the valleys..
Erosion has formed the landscape of the Coiron in such a special way that the upper layer of basalt is cut like a giant oak leaf.
To log this earthcache, go to the given coordinates and answer the following questions:
1)For how many years was the Coiron an active volcanic massif?
2)What is another term for an explosion crater?
3)Although it is totally facultative according to the guidelines it would be nice if you take a photo of yourselves near the information sign or close to one of the volcanic rock formations.
