Geocache Description:

The second Geocache on the island of Karpathos: It leads you to the ancient springs and aqueduct of Arkassa.

This traditional geocache leads you to the ancient springs and aqueduct of Arkassa. Next to the parts of the ancient aqueduct, even today you can see numerous wall remnants of this site. My research of the history of this construction is not yet finished, even though I would like to release the cache for searching. I would be pleased to receive from you any information available about the history of this location.

There are two possibilities you can reach the cache. Possibility 1: on the way from Arkassa to Káto Yiri there is a trail over a small creek and some rocks, but less dangerous, with a beautiful scenery over the ancient aqueduct and its construction.Possibility 2 (Terrain 3.5): There is a hiking trail leading from the car parking zone 1, a bumpy way over rocks to the geocache.

The cache is hidden in a small cavern, which is barred in the northern part by two stones, but in the western part there is a small floor opening (see “Detail Spoiler”).

Have fun on your ways over the Isle of Karpathos and have fun with the search and finding the cache.

Small note on cache maintenance:
There is a local cache guardian who will assist.
