A “Casa da Salga” está situada no início da Vila de S. Sebastião, ficando dividida entre esta e a freguesia do Porto Judeu, tendo como últimos proprietários a família Morens de Távora.É uma casa que fica no centro de uma zona agrícola, cujo acesso deve ser feito de automóvel (4x4) por dois trajectos: pelo Caminho da Vila virando-se para a Canada da Quinta ou pelo Caminho da Salga virando-se pela mesma canada.
"A “Casa da Salga” é uma casa dos fins do século XVI, tendo ficado concluída no ano de 1562, e tal como a Baía da Salga está directamente ligada Batalha da Salga ocorrida no ano de 1581.
Perante as várias versões existentes da história da Batalha da Salga, apresenta-se apenas, em traços gerais, os dados que são comuns a todas estas versões e que fazem referencia à “Casa da Salga”.
Conta o povo que enquanto as Terras Lusitanas já estavam sobre o domínio de Filipe II de Espanha, a ilha Terceira continuava a resistir ao domínio Espanhol.
A 25 de Julho de 1581, no contexto da luta entre partidários de Filipe II de Espanha e D. António I de Portugal, a tropa castelhana desembarcou na Baía da Salga. As forças Espanholas de imediato incendiaram as searas e casas existentes nas imediações.
Fala a historia que no local onde aconteceu a Batalha da Salga residia uma mulher, Brianda Pereira, cuja naturalidade está ainda por confirmar, sendo esta dona de terras e de uma abastada casa agrícola, residindo nesse local até ser travada a Batalha da Salga, sendo a casa de Brianda Pereira provavelmente umas das casas incendiadas.
No contexto da invasão, os castelhanos ocuparam uma casa, a “Casa da Salga”, pondo lá a sua bandeira.Não havendo fontes concretas quanto a isso, diz-se que a “Casa da Salga” pertencia às terras de Brianda Pereira.
O povo Português junto de Brianda Pereira ao ver os soldados castelhanos tomarem posse de todo o território, tomaram a iniciativa de enviar o gado bravo da ilha sobre os Espanhóis conseguindo-os vencer. Brianda Pereira foi glorificada por este acto nas décadas vindouras a esta Batalha.
Os castelhanos eram persistentes e voltaram a atacar a ilha em 1583; desta vez foram os homens de Maquês de Santa Cruz (D. Álvaro Bazan) que tomaram a ilha pelo Porto das Mós em Angra do Heroísmo matando o rei D. António e os seus partidários. Não se espalharam muitos castelhanos durante os 60 anos de permanência, ficando estes pela cidade e arredores.
A “Casa da Salga” apresenta ainda a nobreza dos materiais nas paredes-mestras, o relógio de sol do cunhal sueste e preserva as datas gravadas na porta de entrada da sua construção (1562) e na empena da capela anexa (1682).

The "Casa da Salga" is situated at the beginning of the village of S. Sebastião, being torn between this and the Porto Judeu neighborhood, with the last owners of the family Morens Távora.
