Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES, SO DON'T GO THERE.
SOLVE THE PUZZLE TO FIND THE CACHE.
THE CACHE IS IN CT, IN A PARK LESS THAN 5 MILES FROM THESE COORDINATES.

In the darkest days of May 2011, the NFL owners feared that because of the current labor strife they would again need to hire replacement players. Secret scrimmages were held to serve as tryouts. This
cache commemorates the brave men who took the field in those bleak days.

These clandestine tryouts were held at private football fields in remote locations. Always eager to save a buck, the NFL decided to simultaneously test their new high-tech football, which contained sensors as part of a fully electronic system to determine the forward progress of ball carriers. This resulted in hyper-accurate statistics since the sensors in the ball could calculate down and distance to within .001 of a yard.

The NY Giants held one such scrimmage at these coordinates. Players were from semi-pro leagues, many outside the US. Two such men were quarterbacks named Frank Dunord and Al Occidental. They led the two teams, each hoping to earn their big break.

Occidental performed adequately. He was 25 for 50 for 315.908 yards with 3 Touchdowns and 2 Interceptions.

Dunord struggled with the intricacies of the pro offense. He was 20 for 50 for 289.328 yards with 1 Touchdown and 3 Interceptions.

Sadly for the players involved that day, the lockout was resolved and the regular players returned to work in August. But this cache will keep their memory alive.

THE CACHE IS A CAMO'D LOCK'N'LOCK HIDDEN IN AN OLD ROCK WALL.
NO ROCKS NEED TO BE MOVED TO FIND OR REMOVE THE CACHE, SO PLEASE DON"T DISTURB THE WALL.
