Geocache Description:

This is cache #01 on a circular trail of nearly 5 miles, starting and finishing in the village of Lea nr. Malmesbury.

This circular series of caches will bring you past 5 farms, 3 old mills, a wood and an existing cache, GC1X4FT (Somerford Saunter) - our very first find - in a great location; you will cross the Avon at least 3 times and enjoy a variety of scenery and caches along the way. Some parts can be very muddy after some rainfall.

The route was planned using an OS map and the trail follows public footpaths. The terrain difficulty has been set at 2 for all of the caches to reflect the average difficulty of the entire series.

Care should be taken after cache #03 and #13 when the B4042 will have to be crossed; a very busy road indeed.

A number of the fields had cattle and sheep in it when I planned the route and placed the caches. Along the trail, I also saw swans, geese, chickens, turkeys, guinea fowl, rabbits and numerous different types of birds.

There are various roadside parking opportunities in Lea. The parking waypoint will bring you in front of Lea Baptist chapel. There is also a pub car park nearby, which I am sure can be used if the pub is visited as part of the trail.

At the time of placement, all caches - besides the smallest nano caches - contained a pencil. However, it seems most may have gone, so please bring your own pen or pencil.

For cache #01, you are looking for a camouflaged 35mm film canister.
