Captain Cringle's Secret - Island cache. This is my 7yr old's first hide. Those of you who visit Cuttyhunk understand what a special place this truly is. This is an ammo box filled with prizes and goodies. Enjoy the views of the Westend of the island that only few geocachers have been able to experience.
[Note: As of 08/17/2011, has not been discovered yet, will you be the first?]
This cache is located near the Westend Pond. Cuttyhunk it self is accessible only by the ferry from New Bedford, a private vessel, seaplane or helicopter. You will need to follow the paved road from the ferry dock until it turns to dirt. The road is packed sand/dirt and sometimes muddy after heavy rains. It's a great hike and you never know what kind of wildlife you will see.
Since this is my son Dylan's first hide, we have chosen to make it simple for all to find. Near the cache is a small "clearing", at which you can lookout over the Westend Pond and see the Island Monument in the distance. The cache is hidden just off the main path near the "clearing". After your find, follow the path down to the beach - amazing views and the best sunsets. Enjoy
