This "challenge" cache is not accessible from the highway, although you will probably be on many in order to complete this challenge. As a side note I was going to call this cache "Just Puttz'n around"
A few months back I was heading to Pennsylvania to visit family and I devised a challenge for myself that, if I could complete, I decided I would present to other geocachers who may have long trips ahead of them. The challenge was to find five different cache types (icons) in five different states in a single day. Well, I completed my personal challenge so now it's up to you to see if you can do the same.
Specific rules to achieve completion:
- Find 5 different cache types (icons) in 5 different states in one day
(1 cache type per state)
- All caches must be found on the same calendar day, not 24 hour period. That is, if you start on Tuesday, you must finish on Tuesday.
- ANY of the cache types listed on geocaching.com are eligible.
- The distance between the caches doesn't matter. Completing the requirements for this cache can be achieved in small close-together New England states, or the larger more spread out mid-western states.
- When logging this find, please list the caches in your log, create a bookmark list, or a even just screen shot showing the caches you used to complete this challenge.
- You do not have to find this cache on the day you found the other caches.
- The caches can be found at any time. There are no date restrictions on this cache since I'm betting very few have accomplished it intentionally. If you see that you have already completed it, come and get it!
- The caches you find to complete this challenge can be hidden whenever.

If I may offer one piece of unsolicited advice.....Early in your trip pick up a few different types from each state so that you are sure you have enough when you get to the end. DNF's can haunt a person on a challenge like this.
As people complete this challenge I will try to keep track of their total stars (on only the caches used to complete the challenge) and the distance between them.
The cache container is a small lock & lock with a full sized log to describe your adventure, and room for trade items. There is an FTF prize not contained within the cache. I will arrange the finder to get their hands on it however is easiest.
