Hörtsänän arboretum perustettiin 1900-luvun alussa ja loistavimmillaan se oli 1930-luvulla. Puistossa on yhä edelleen kymmeniä eksoottisia puita ja runsaasti perennoja, jotka kukkivat kasvukauden eri aikoina.
The Hörtsänä arboretum was established at the beginning of the 20th century with its prime time in the 1930’s. There are still dozens of exotic trees and lots of perennials blooming at different times of the growing season.
Helpoimmin pääset kätkölle kääntymällä valtatieltä 58 Onnistaipaleentielle, jätteenlajittelupisteen kohdalta Onnisjärventielle ja sitten seuraamalla opasteita. Vaikka löytäisitkin kätkön nopeasti, käy silti myös alueen korkeimmalla kohdalla, juhlakentällä, ja kuvittele, millaisia ovat olleet siellä aikanaan järjestetyt kesäjuhlat ja konsertit ja millaisia ne mahtavat olla tulevaisuudessa, kun niitä siellä taas pidetään. Kulje vain olemassa olevia polkuja pitkin ja muista kirjoittaa nimesi vieraskirjaan, joka on ilmoitustaulussa olevassa laatikossa puiston sisäänkäynnin luona. Osa koristekasvien marjoista on myrkyllisiä, joten pidä huoli, että kukaan seurueestasi ei syö marjoja, joista et ole varma, mitä ne ovat. Peitä kätkö huolellisesti lähtiessäsi. Koira on pidettävä alueella kytkettynä.

The easiest way to the cache is turning to the road Onnistaipaleentie from highway 58, then to the road Onnisjärventie at the waste sorting site and finally following the signs. Even if you found the cache quick and easy, please find your way also to the top of the hill where there is a festivity area. Imagine the feasts and concerts held there decades ago and also imagine how it will be in future when similar happenings will be organized there again. Please, only use the existing paths and sign your visit in the book that you can find in the box on the information board at the entrance. Part of the berries growing in the area are poisonous, so don’t eat anything you are not absolutely sure of. The web page is unfortunately only available in Finnish, but there are also nice pictures (valokuvat) there to watch. Cover the cache carefully before leaving. Dogs must be leashed in the area.
