HR: Zagrebačka uspinjača za Gornji grad je jedan od najvećih simbola grada i najstarije javno prijevozno sredstvo, kojim su se vozile mnoge generacije Zagrepčana, uživajući u romantične 64 sekunde uspona od Donjeg do Gornjeg grada.
Godinu dana je starija je od prvog konjskog tramvaja, a sagradio ju je osječki poduzetnik D. W. Klein. U promet je puštena 8. listopada 1890., bila je pokretana na parni pogon, a njezine su kabine tada imale odjeljke prvog i drugog razreda.

EN: Zagreb funicular to Upper Town is one of the greatest symbols of the city and the oldest public transport system, which had driven many generations of locals, enjoying a romantic 64 second climb from Lower to Upper Town. A year older than the first horse-drawn trams, it was built by a businessman from Osijek, D.W. Klein. Inaugurated on October 8th, 1890, it was driven by the steam, and its cabins had first and second class compartments.


U usporedbi s ostalim žičanim željeznicama koje su namijenjene javnom prometu, s prugom dugom 66 metara, najkraća je na svijetu. U prosjeku kabine na godinu prijeđu oko 4000 km i prevezu oko 675.000 putnika. U više od jednog stoljeća vožnje nije bilo nijedne nesreće, nijednog stradalog putnika i zato uvjerljivo nosi naslov najsigurnijeg javnog prijevoznog sredstava, ne samo u nas, nego i mnogo šire. Budući da je do danas u cijelosti zadržala prvobitni vanjski izgled i građevnu konstrukciju, a i većinu tehničkih svojstava koja su joj dali graditelji, zagrebačka je uspinjača zakonski zaštićena kao spomenik kulture.


Compared with other funicular railways designed for public transport, with its rail only 66 meters long, it is the shortest in the world. Its cabins travel about 4000 km a year, and carry approximately 675,000 passengers. In its history of more than a century there were no accidents, no passengers injured, so convincingly, it is by far the safest means of public transport, not only in Croatia, but much further. Since it still fully retains its original exterior, building construction, as well as most of the technical properties that her builders implemented, the Zagreb Funicular is legally protected as a historic monument.
