Church Micro 1557 – Southwick Methodist Church.
Southwick, who knew that there was so much packed into such a
tiny village?
I decided to do this cache after noticing the rich history around
Southwick.
There’s an old Manor Hall, a few churches, a theatre that
used to be a barn, and Southwick Methodist Church, which is built
on top of an old Roman Villa, which is reflected in the local road
names.
It’s been excavated a few times and exhibits from the finds
can be found in the Manor Cottage Heritage Centre in Southwick, the
Marlipins Museum in Shoreham-by-Sea and Barbican House.
The published co-ordinates will take you to the church itself,
where there are an information board and a nice bench to sit on.
The church itself was built around the 1950's and is for the most
part unremarkable, I thought it would be nice to make people aware
of it and the Roman Villa it is built on top of.
The cache itself is hidden at

To Find A – Southwick’s Roman Villa was extensively
excavated, starting in a certain year. To find A, what’s the
difference between that year and the next year of excavation?
To find B – Find the year the Roman army first invaded
Britain, its 2 numbers. Take the second number from the first to
find B.
To Find C – How many samples of Wall plaster are there on
the board?
To Find D –On the info board, how many buckets is the
slave carrying?
To find E – On the Plaque on the bench, how many words are
in the top line?
To find F- On the plaque on the bench, add together the number
of words on the bottom two lines.
Good Luck
If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I
would just ask that you could let
Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church
numbers and names to avoid duplication
