Podstatou lécby v lécebných lázních je využívání místních prírodních lécivých zdroju. Lécivý zdroj lázní Sanatoria Klimkovice je solanka.

Jodobromová voda, tzv. solanka, je unikátní prírodní lécivá minerální voda, puvodem morská voda z období tretihorního vrásnení. Je silne mineralizovaná a vyznacuje se neobvykle silnou koncentrací jódu. Obsah jódu v prumeru 900x prevyšuje bežnou morskou vodu a obsah ostatních minerálních látek je témer dvojnásobný. Vysokou hodnotu vykazuje obsah bromu v solance a pro lécivý úcinek má význam také celkový obsah iontu a stupen kyselosti (pH faktor).

Výskyt zdroju fosilních vod je spojen s oblastmi uhelných ložisek Ostravska, v jejichž píscitých slojích, vytvorených bourlivým pohybem zemských vrstev, byla zakonzervována voda pravekého more, které se zde vyskytovalo pred 6,5 až 11 miliony let. Vzácnost techto zdroju je umocnena jejich omezeností a vycerpatelností.

Solanka je cerpána z vrtu, o hloubce 400 - 500 m, které se nacházejí v okolí Polanky nad Odrou, vzdálené od lázní asi 11 km. Odtud je do areálu lázní dopravována potrubím a ukládána do jímek, v nichž 2–3 týdny dozrává. Po zahrátí na teplotu 36°C je využívána jako lécivý prostredek k vnejší aplikaci formou koupelí a zábalu.

The treatment in the spa is based on the exploitation of local natural curative sources. The curative source of the spa Sanatoria Klimkovice is a brine.

Iodine-bromine water, so called "brine" , is the unique natural curative mineral water originated from sea water from the period of tertiary folding. It is highly mineralized and features the unusually high concentration of iodine. The content of iodine on average exceeds regular sea water 900 times and the content of other minerals is almost double. The brine has also a high content of bromine and the complete amount of ions and the level of acidity (pH factor) has also an importance for the curative impact.

The presence of sources of fossil waters is associated with the area of coal deposits around Ostrava, in the sandy seams of which, created by the violent movement of the layers of earth, was preserved water from the primordial sea, which was located here 6.5 to 11 million years ago. The preciousness of these sources rises with their limited supply and exhaustibility.

The brine is pumped from the drills, 400 - 500 m deep, that are located near Polanka nad Odrou 11 km far from the spa. From there is water transported via pipeline to the spa area and there it is stored in reservoirs where it matures for 2–3 weeks. After being heated up to 36°C it is used for external application in the form of baths, inhalation and wraps.
