Take the footpath by the schoolhouse in Townfield. Walk down the field to a stile. Walk down a steep descent through woodland.
Here, is a land between the hills, a place where once grew industry from the plundered Earth. Glittering Galena was scavenged from the rock, smashed and smelted to feed the human craving for an easily moulded metal that could guide the life giving nectar of the Gods without being tarnished. ( Little did we know that it insidiously poisoned those that were too greedy!)
Now, it appears to be a peaceful place where only nature’s garden nestles. BUT TAKE CARE! There is in this glen the mystical gathering place of the fairies– a place not given or seen by human folk.
If you should glimpse a fluttering wing of glimmering silk, pay it no heed-say it was a butterfly that passed through your vision.
If, as you approach or depart, you catch the faintest sound of siren like music-say that it was the wind breathing between the trees.
For this is a magical place, a place that exists, but does not exist. This is the ‘Glen of the Fairie Folk’ that must never be known by human kind. If human should hear the music, or see the revelry of the fairies, they will surely be trapped to dance with the fairie folk for all eternity– never to live in the human world again!
