HRADISKO V OBRANECH
Opevnené výšinné sídlište z pozdní doby bronzové. Lokalita se nachází asi 1 km východne od stredu Obran, na temeni masivní ostrožny obtékané meandrující rekou Svitavou. Prevýšení ode dna údolí
se pohybuje kolem 100 m. Hradisko má približne trojúhelníkový tvar o délce 550 m a max. šírce 280 m, jeho rozloha je necelých 20 ha. Hradisko bylo po obvodu opevneno mohutnou hradbou s drevenou konstrukcí vyplnenou hlínou a kamením. Teleso valu merilo na výšku
až 6 m a bylo 5 m široké, destrukce hradby je dnes na mnoha místech stále patrná v podobe vysoké terasy; uprostred severního opevnení
se nachází puvodní brána tvorená dovnitr zataženými konci valu.
Pocátky osídlení spadají do mladší doby bronzové (velatická kultura), ale nejvetší význam dosáhlo hradisko v pozdní dobe bronzové
(podolská kultura, 9. /8. století pr. n. l.), kdy bylo velmi intenzivne osídleno, opevneno mohutnou hradbou a patrne plnilo funkci ústredí celého regionu. Sporadické stopy osídlení pochází z doby halštatské, laténské a z pocátku doby stehování národu.
FORT IN OBRANY
Fortified hill settlement of Late Bronze Age. The area is located about 1 km East of the central defense, on top of a hill, bypassed by the meandering river Svitava. The elevation from the bottom of the Halley to the top is about 100 m. The fort is of triangular shape with a length of 550 m and max. width of 280 m. It is spread on an area
of approximately 20 ha. The fort was fortified by a masive wooden structure perimeter wall filled with soil and stones. The solid wall measured about 6 m in heigh and was 5 m wide. The ruins of the wall is still evident now at many places in a form of a high platform. In the centre of the Northern fortification there is the original gate formed by retracted dnes of the wall.
The beginnings of the settlement fall within the younger Bronze Age (Velatice culture). But the ancient settlement reached its significance in the late Bronze Age (Podolsky culture, 9 / 8th century BC), when it was intensively settled, fortified with massive walls and was probably used as headquarters for the entire region. Sporadic remains of settlement date back to the Hallstatt, La Tene and the begining of the Migration of the nations.
