Smith of Wootton Major Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Indigo Parrish: Animals keep muggling the container here, and too few people appreciate this wild but difficult location to warrant further maintainence. I'm putting this cache out of its misery and opening the area to other hides.

Geocache Description:

A long hike or a short water access to the woods of Wootton Major.

Smith of Wootton Major

This is a small cache at the end of a long hike (or a short one if accessing by boat) out near the very tip of old Camp Tom Wooten.

The forest here is wild, and reminds me of the forest in JRR Tolkein's novella 'Smith of Wootton Major'.

Please re-hide it well so the animals and lake muggles stay mystified.

"It reminds me of Faery," he heard himself say; "but in Faery the people sing too." Then he began to sing, high and clear, in strange words that he seemed to know by heart; and in that moment the star fell out of his mouth and he caught it on his open hand. It was bright silver now, glistening in the sunlight; but it quivered and rose a little, as if it was about to fly away. Without thinking he clapped it to his head, and there the star stayed in the middle of his forehead, and he wore it for many years.
-- from 'Smith of Wootton Major'

BONUS SMILEY: The cache contains star stickers. You may claim a bonus smiley if you post a photo of yourself at GZ with one of the stars on your forehead just like the main character from the story.
