Athanasios the Anthonite was one of the earlist monks on
Athos,in 958 he arrived at Mount athos and founded the monasteri
Great Lavra. More information can be found here.
Athanasios lived in this cave for many years.
Now there live two monks in a skete.
Take care when you descend the 220 stairs on the cliff. After
finding and logging the cache you can enter the gate and climb the
stairs to visit the cave.
Please respect the monks privacy and keep quite.
The easiest way of going there is from the skete Timiou
Prodromou, walk around the building and true the garden and follow
the path behind the wooden gate at the solarpannels.
