The Werekoala Prowls at Night Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Ozibags: I visited the cache today. The area looks to be under development - trees removed, marker pegs etc. So I have reluctantly decided to remove the cache and archive it before it becomes a victim of bulldozers. It's had a good run!

Geocache Description:

You will need a strong torch and a brave heart for this cache.

Werewolves strike terror into the hearts of men and women everywhere. They are fearsome creatures, but they are suckling puppies compared to...... Werekoalas.

A group of these Werekoalas prowl in a forest close to Bundaberg every night, terrorising anyone who is foolish enough to venture there. They search for warm-blooded victims so they can suck their blood and then tear them to bits until they are dead.

There have been many reports of dead animals in the forest with tell-tale signs of Werekoala attack; the bodies torn asunder and devoid of blood when found. People who have ventured there at night have gone missing. The hideous roars of the Werekoalas often emanate from the forest at night as they go into a killing frenzy.

The locals have found that the only way to stop the Werekoalas from coming out of the forest at night and attacking people in their homes is to offer regular sacrifices after dark in the middle of the forest.

The only acceptable sacrifice (discovered through trial and death) is to add a shiny trinket to a container that has been hidden in the middle of the forest.

It has also been discovered by trial and death that there is only one narrow winding path through the forest that will provide safe passage in. Step too far outside this path and the prowling Werekoalas immediately attack.

No-one knows why this narrow path is the only safe area in the forest. Some believe humans become invisible to the Werekoalas while on this narrow path. Locals have also discovered that Werekoalas cannot see artificial light.

The werekoalas are very intelligent and if they became aware of the path they would certainly prowl along it hunting down their victims by smell.

To avoid this, some brave locals have cleverly marked the path to the container with small, hardly noticeable tacks that will reflect artificial light, such as torch light.

Geocachers have been asked to help keep the local community safe from the Werekoalas by offering sacrifice in the way described above.

Are you brave and fearless enough to take on this challenging community service?

If so, to start your journey, go to the listed coordinates after dark, point your torch (best if shone at eye-level) in a westerly direction and follow the path to the reflective tack, but DO NOT veer from the path shown or you will certainly be attacked. When you get to each tack, shine your torch around until you see the next tack and so on, until you find an arrow that points to the container.

The locals thank you, and suggest you check that your life insurance is up-to-date before venturing out.

PS: Take a good torch, small LED or head torches just don't 'cut it'
