Stinkpot Turtle Traditional Cache
brenda&&rew: I'm archiving this version of this turtle because I have had to move it to a location that is bit further then just updating the coords. The container has gone missing too many times in this location so I am hoping the new spot will stay hidden longer!

in our disclaimer.
The container is a peanut butter jar. It has been replaced on September 8, 2011 with a new container and log and then again on May 8, 2012 and now once again on May 30, 2012.
This is an extremely busy area in the summer time so please make sure the container is hidden well when you replace it. Of course, stealth is required, especially here!
Please leave the turtle information card in the container.
Placed with permission from the Town of Tillsonburg for the Turtlefest.
Stinkpot Turtle (Sternotherus odoratus)
The stinkpot turtle reaches lengths of 8 - 13 cm. It has a high domed, brownish carapace (shell), while the plastron (underside of shell) is small and hinged behind the front legs. This turtle has a large, pointed head with two light stripes on each side.
The stinkpot lives in shallow, weedy lakes, ponds and streams with a muddy bottom. It is not often seen basking in the sun and spends most of its time in the water.
The turtle is uncommon and local in parts of southern Ontario.
