The June Alternative Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Adrian Mc: Gone until next years trip.

We maybe heading west next year, unless they come up with such a compelling 'traditional' SA JLW idea that we go there instead.

Geocache Description:

I know most SA based cachers will attend the Yorke Peninsula June Long Weekend Event that is being ably hosted by The YP Geocachers.

However this is an event for those who are after something a little bit different to do on the long weekend.

COME SEE WHERE OUR WATER COMES FROM.

Lake Menindee 11 - 13 June 2011.

Saturday 11th June
My intention is to meet at the Paringa Pub on the Saturday morning at 10:00am.

Then we will head off along the old mail route over to Mildura/Wentworth way, before heading up the Darling River to Pooncarie and then on to a bush camp site along the banks of the Darling River for the night.

Bush Campsite at 'Cuthero Point' along the Darling

Sunday 12th June
Sunday will see us head off up to Menindee Lakes and Kinchega National Park before finding a campsite either in the national park or near the Bourke and Wills memorial along the shore of Lake Pamamaroo.

Monday 13th June
And then on Monday it will be a trip up to Broken Hill and then home via the bitumen.

It is advisable to have a 4WD for this trip, it may be possible in a 2WD but I can not guarantee that you will not become bogged, or damage your car.
On that note this trip will be weather dependant as some or all of the tracks involved may be closed due to rain/rain damage.
If that happens then we will improvise on the spot and come up with another plan.
