Geocache Description:

Another cache located along the beautiful shoreline of Anderson Lake. But this is not a "boat only" cache, you can hike to this one, if you're crazy enough! And call me crazy because I placed this cache by hike, not the boat! And in my book, this was a serious, but awesome hike. I did this hike with Seek2Findme and Starpop and when S2FM spotted this place, she turned around and yelled to me "Hey, this is a great log!". So I named this "Mare's Great Log".

One may ask: "Where's the Trailhead to do this hike?". There is no "trailhead". All I can tell you is to park at the end of the Dam, go through the chainlink fence, and find whatever cow trails you can find leading upwards to reach the top of the mountain. Or just stay close to the shoreline. We found a cow trail leading up and to the left. Once you reach the top you will be treated to incredible views and you will walk in valleys with wildflowers in the Springtime.

Anderson lake is currently closed to boating on Wednesdays and Thursdays, but that could change, at any given time, during different times of the year, so do your own research before coming out. $6 to get in or County Park Pass.
I'm giving this a 3.5 star terrain, as the hiking is on wild, primitive, cow pasture land, with uneven footing. When I did this hike, my number one concern was trying to not sprain an ankle! Of course one may reach this by boat or kayak if one chooses that option.
You may encounter cows, ticks and snakes and mud.
